Magestone - Platypus-bear Concept

Hello again for the third time today,

For those interested in Mette Aumala's Magestone universe, we have still been trying to collaborate on it when we can.

One concept that I wanted to put in that Mette seems to have agreed on, is my little riff upon Avatar: The Last Airbender, namely the platypus-bear (which I love).

This version is of course different and more feasible.

The Ovoursus is the biggest known Monotreme upon Gea. Approaching a brown-bear in size, this mammal is thought to be related to forms preceding the split between Platypus, Echidna and the Duckbunny. Apparently descended from semi-aquatic ancestors, its snout lacks the rubbery sensory array of the platypus, but seems to have reverted to a more therian state from something like that of a platypus. An omnivore with powerful high-cusped teeth, it also has large canine tusks that allow it to kill small and mid-sized vertebrates, or defend itself against interlopers. Omnivorous with a preference for meat, it feeds on small vertebrates up to the size of a cat, as well as insects such as grubs and moths, bird-eggs, wood fungus, fallen fruit and seeds. It is notable for being one of the few mammals to exist on a large southern-island which is roughly equivalent to Earth's New Zealand. Females are a bit heaver than males, and carry a single large egg in a capacious pouch somewhat like that of a wombat. Both males and females posses large venomous ankle spurs which they use to defend themselves, although this is mainly against others of their own kind intruding on their territory.

The many Sophonts of "Fellow Tetrapod"...

 For a couple of years now, I have been collaborating with the fantastic Sci-fi author, Daniel Bensen. We have been working to assemble a sci-fi story about a scenario in which man has been contacted by a convention that spans the many alternate timelines of earth, those that have produced Sapient, civilization-building species, ones with advanced technology, ones like us. We call this story "Fellow Tetrapod". It was a long and arduous process, but it turned out that we collaborated very well. I provided my services as a conceptualist and creature designer, along with Dan who is also very proficient at this. I was also the main illustrator of chapter-headers. In order to promote this work of fiction, I am posting a rogues gallery of the many and varied persons which we meet in this book.
