Demons and Angels - My own interpretation...
Hello again, Recently, thanks to some discussions with my close friend Mette Aumala, I had a few ideas for Lovecraftian interpretations of demons and angels from more traditional doctrine. The idea is to make more visceral and discomnforting-looking demons or angels, compared to the traditional iconography, and for this the obscenity and fleshy nature of Lovecraftian entities seems apt. - This first is an interpretation of the Biblical Ophanim as some sort of invertebrate-based flying Lovecraftian monster. Ophanim are described as flying winged sets of wheels set about with wings, and here I have loosely applied that shape to a multi-finned, Ctenophore-jelly-like creature. The "eyes" in this instance may instead actually be light-producing organs. This next one is a Demon that is tasked with tempting mortal men. I didn't have a traditional demon from iconography as a basis, but the Cthonic Roman deity Priapus suits this one fairly well. This demon is drawn as a serpe...
